In line with the requirements of the Building Practitioners Board (BPB) this course is recognised by the BPB as an equivalent qualification for registration as a Domestic Builder. To become a Registered Builder the BPB in Victoria requires individuals to:

* demonstrate that they hold the appropriate qualification

* ensure that they have relevant practical experience

* have the appropriate number of years of experience

* be of good character

* undertake an assessment (face-to-face interview) with the Building Practitioners Board Assessors

* hold the appropriate insurance

As a pre-requisite candidates must have 3 years relevant hands on experience in domestic building or an allied field and must be able to use a computer and the Internet. See applicant checklist. Candidates are also advised to contact the Building Practitioners Board on 1300 360 320 for further information regarding eligibility and how to obtain your licence.

The course will deliver 8 face-to-face and 3 online competencies, as detailed on the attached course outline, will also include information and strategies to assist candidates in preparing their application and advise of gaps where applicable.

Candidates will need to complete relevant assessment tasks pertaining to each competency to obtain a certificate of attainment.

Note:To obtain a full qualification in Certificate IV in Building & Construction (Building) - BCG40106, you need to complete the unit of competency BCGBC4011A - Apply structural principles to commercial low-rise constructions.
